West Indies bat in first ODI, Pakistan hand debut to Mohammad Haris

West Indies won the toss and chose to bat against Pakistan

On a blazing day in Multan, it was unsurprising to see West Indies opt to keep their bowlers in the shade in the afternoon heat. West Indies are coming in fresh off a 3-0 series victory over Netherlands, though the last away ODI series they won before that came in 2011.

Pakistan meanwhile, languish below the automatic qualification spots for the next ODI World Cup, placed at No. 10 in the Super League standings, and will seek to remedy that in a series they come into as favourites. Pakistan named a full-strength side, with Mohammad Haris making his debut, replacing Iftikhar Ahmed in the side. Pakistan's last ODI home series was against Australia in April, which Babar Azam's men won 2-1.

West Indies: Shai Hope (wk), Kyle Mayers, Shamarh Brooks, Nicholas Pooran (capt), Brandon King, Rovman Powell, Romario Shepherd, Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hosein, Jaydon Seales, Hayden Walsh

Pakistan: Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam (capt), Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Shadab Khan, Mohammad Haris, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Nawaz, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi
