Toss Bangladesh chose to bowl vs India

Bangladesh have chosen to bowl first in the first ODI of their three-match series against India. Litton Das, the Bangladesh captain, suggested that the pitch at the Shere Bangla National Stadium looked "a little bit sticky" and expected it to help the seamers in the first ten overs.

India captain Rohit Sharma agreed that there was a "bit of moisture" in the pitch and said he would have preferred to bowl too.

With Mohammed Shami ruled out of the series with a shoulder injury, India handed the Madhya Pradesh quick Kuldeep Sen an international debut. Sen sparkled during the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy 50-overs tournament, picking up 18 wickets - including three successive hauls of four wickets or more - in six games at an average of 12.72 and a strike rate of 14.2.
On the morning of the match, the BCCI sent out a release announcing that India had released Rishabh Pant from the ODI squad on medical grounds, and that Axar Patel was not available for selection for the first ODI. With Pant absent, India handed KL Rahul the keeping gloves. They picked a side with plenty of batting depth, with Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar lined up from Nos. 6 to 9.

With regular captain and opener Tamim Iqbal injured and out of the series, Bangladesh chose to open with Litton and Anamul Haque. They picked three seamers in Mustafizur Rahman, Ebadot Hossain and Hasan Mahmud, and left out the left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed.

India: 1 Rohit Sharma (capt), 2 Shikhar Dhawan, 3 Virat Kohli, 4 Shreyas Iyer, 5 KL Rahul (wk), 6 Washington Sundar, 7 Shahbaz Ahmed, 8 Shardul Thakur, 9 Deepak Chahar, 10 Mohammed Siraj, 11 Kuldeep Sen

Bangladesh: 1 Litton Das (capt), 2 Anamul Haque, 3 Najmul Hossain Shanto, 4 Shakib Al Hasan, 5 Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), 6 Mahmudullah, 7 Afif Hossain, 8 Mehidy Hasan Miraz, 9 Hasan Mahmud, 10 Mustafizur Rahman, 11 Ebadot Hossain
