Scotland 'still not playing to potential' - Horne

Scotland are yet to fully play to their potential in this Six Nations, believes national team coach Pete Horne.

Victories over England and Wales, and a narrow loss to France, have put Scotland in second place in the table, going into Saturday's trip to Italy.

But Scotland assistant coach Pete Horne says team has missed opportunities to press home their advantages so far in the competition.

"We're obviously pretty happy with where we're at," he said.

"We feel the little tweaks to our game and the way we've evolved since the World Cup's been good.

"We've been right in the mix - we should be three from three so we can't be disappointed with that, but we definitely feel like we've left a lot of opportunities out there.

"We missed a few opportunities against Wales and let them come right back into the game, and then didn't have the conviction to get that bonus point right at the end.

"Again at the weekend there it was really just a 10-minute blip where we missed three or four stonewall chances to show exactly what we are.

"It's a good place to be, we're getting some decent results, but we're still not playing to our potential."

Scotland travel to Italy on Saturday looking to put in another good performance, having had the chance to rest up players after the win over England.

"We've been building a long time know to really show what we've got," said Horne.

"It's taken a little bit of time to work on that evolution, but I think we're getting there. That perfect balance is what's so difficult to come by in rugby."
