Browns: Whitehead's social posts 'unacceptable'

Published in Breaking News
Sunday, 03 November 2019 19:59

DENVER -- The Cleveland Browns issued a statement condemning the profanity-laced and threatening social media comments by safety Jermaine Whitehead following Sunday's loss at Denver.

"Jermaine Whitehead's social media posts following today's game were totally unacceptable and highly inappropriate," a Browns spokesperson said. "We immediately spoke with Jermaine upon learning of these comments. The Browns in no way condone that type of language or behavior. This matter will be further addressed internally."

Broncos tight end Noah Fant ran over Whitehead on the way to a 75-yard touchdown reception. That, and a missed tackle on another big Denver play, drew criticism of Whitehead on social media. Shortly after the game ended, Whitehead responded on Twitter, including to Dustin Fox, who appears on a postgame show for the Browns' radio network.

Whitehead's Twitter account was suspended before he had even left the visiting locker room. He declined to take questions from reporters.

Whitehead later took to Instagram to apologize for his performance but not for the tweets.

"Crazy world. They line it up and say anything in the book too you," he said in the caption of a photo of himself walking outside with a suitcase in his right hand and a cast on the left one. "They tell you take the high road, when yo whole life you was taught to meet fire with fire. I do apologize for my performance, but having a broke hand and a strong fear of letting my team down is my downfall. Whatever happens happens. Ain trippin. They probably gone still talk crazy but this me getting smoke off my chest. I don't need one like.. this from me to me! Keep ya head up homie, can't nobody f--- with you. I dare em to try."

BALTIMORE -- Quarterback Lamar Jackson delivered the most monumental victory of his career, and the Baltimore Ravens can stake their claim to being the AFC's best team.

Before a national television audience, the Ravens stomped the undefeated and defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, 37-20, on the strength of Jackson's elusiveness, a punishing running game and opportunistic defense.

Jackson ran for two touchdowns and threw for another, which caused the sellout crowd at M&T Bank Stadium to serenade him with chants of "MVP" in the game's final minutes. Sidestepping and slashing past a defense that stacked the box, he finished with 224 yards of total offense, throwing for 163 yards and rushing for 61.

Jackson's record as a starter improved to 12-3, but none of those victories have been more impressive than this one. Jackson and the Ravens upset the NFL's most decorated quarterback and coach as well as a defense off to a historic start.

The Ravens scored four offensive touchdowns against a New England defense that had only allowed four offensive touchdowns in its first eight games. Baltimore also scored 37 points against a team that hadn't allowed more than 14 in a game this season.

Baltimore not only showed that it belongs in the same class as New England but the Ravens are threatening the Patriots' hold on the AFC's top seed at the midway point of the season. The Ravens (6-2) are 1 1/2 games back of the Patriots for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

The Ravens' first win against the Patriots since the 2012 AFC championship Game was more than a one-man show. Mark Ingram and Gus Edwards contributed to a rushing attack that totaled 210 yards. The often maligned Ravens defense relentlessly hit Tom Brady and forced two turnovers.

This marked the fifth 6-2 start for the Ravens and their first since their 2012 Super Bowl season.

Describe the game in two words: Streak breaker. The Ravens did more than end the Patriots' 13-game winning streak (including playoffs). Jackson ended New England's streak of 21 straight wins against a first- or second-year starting quarter, the longest such streak in NFL history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Promising trend: Marlon Humphrey as a playmaker. With Baltimore up 17-13, it looked like the Patriots were marching down the field to take their first lead. But linebacker Patrick Onwuasor forced Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman to fumble, and Humphrey returned it 70 yards for the touchdown. It was the longest fumble return in the Ravens' 24-year franchise history. This was also the second straight game Humphrey has reached the end zone. He scored an 18-yard fumble return in Week 7 at Seattle.

Pivotal play: Nick Boyle’s 5-yard touchdown catch from Jackson in the fourth quarter. After the Patriots closed to within 24-20, the Ravens answered with a 14-play, 81-yard drive. This 8 minute, 9 second drive was the longest against New England in the past two seasons. It also ended the longest touchdown drought by a wide receiver or tight end. Boyle caught the first touchdown of his career on his 91st reception, which covered his first 4.5 seasons in the league.

Mingus Survives Wild All American 400

Published in Racing
Sunday, 03 November 2019 16:52

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Mason Mingus emerged as the winner of a wild All American 400 on Sunday evening at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville.

Mingus found himself in position to secure the victory after a battle between race leaders Stephen Nasse and Chandler Smith in the final 100 laps of the 400-lap event for asphalt super late models.

A restart on lap 370 saw Smith leading Nasse and the two engaged in a heated battle for the lead. However, heading down the backstretch the two made contact and Nasse got turned nose first into the outside wall, ending his day.

With Nasse and Smith involved in the incident, Mingus suddenly found himself in the race lead. The race resumed with 19 laps left and Mingus held serve, but another caution with 11 laps left for Smith losing the hood off his car forced one more restart to settle the All American 400.

With so few cars on the lead lap, Smith’s team was able to return the hood to his car and get him back out on track to battle for the win. However, instead of racing Mingus for the win he found himself battling Casey Roderick, who was multiple laps down.

With Roderick serving as an unintended blocker, Mingus was able to sneak away and beat Smith to the checkered flag to win the All American 400 for the first time.

Boris Jurkovic finished third, followed by Brandon Watson and Carson Hocevar.

Bubba Pollard won the 100-lap pro late model feature run earlier in the day. He also competed in the 400-lap main event, but finished 21st in the 27-car field.

The finish:

Mason Mingus, Chandler Smith, Boris Jurkovic, Brandon Watson, Carson Hocevar, Dennis Prunty, Casey Roderick, Kyle Neveau, Johnny Brazier, Dalton Zehr, Stephen Nasse, Donnie Wilson, Austin Nason, Greg Van Alst, Eddie MacDonald, Willie Allen, Derek Thorn, Michael House, Albert Francis, Cole Williams, Bubba Pollard, Ty Majeski, Michael Simko, John DeAngelis Jr., Josh Brock, Travis Braden, Jonathan Eilen.

Another wild weekend in the Premier League is done and dusted. We get you caught up on the action with the Weekend Review.

JUMP TO: #EmeryOut | Klopp's Liverpool = Fergie's United | Pep adds a bit of ... Pep | Saints' slow march to redemption | Chelsea thrive under Funtime Frankie | Ake shows United what they're missing | What's eating West Ham? | Hats off to Coleman | A final word on VAR

Arsenal have all the evidence they need to sack Emery

On the face of things, sacking a manager who has only lost two games all season, one of which was to Liverpool, would be an extremely bold move. But you could hear the sound of straws breaking camel's backs after Unai Emery's post-match press conference on Saturday.

"The result is a bad result, but tactically I think we worked how we wanted," said Emery after Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Wolves, laying out in the clearest possible terms that this isn't a set of players failing to follow their manager's instructions, or things not quite going to plan: This is the plan. This is what is supposed to be happening.

When Raul Jimenez scored Wolves' equaliser, 14 minutes remained plus what would be four minutes of injury time. However, despite playing a side that had not beaten Newcastle and Southampton in the previous two games, thousands of Arsenal fans did not think it was worth sticking around. The queues for trains and buses after games at the Emirates Stadium can be a pain, but not that much of a pain. They made a shrewd choice, though.

Emery's reaction was to bring on Sead Kolasinac for Kieran Tierney, as Nicolas Pepe and even Joe Willock gathered dust on the bench. Arsenal had one effort in the rest of the game -- Sokratis Papastathopoulos' header went wide -- while a Mesut Ozil cross might have resulted in a shot, but that was it. In the game as a whole, Wolves had 25 attempts to Arsenal's 10.

A managerial change should not just be a reaction to bad results, but more about stopping a slide before it becomes terminal; spotting not just when things are going wrong but when they are not going to improve. Arsenal played as their manager wanted on Saturday. Really, that is all the evidence the board should need.

Burley: Emery has absolutely no idea what his best team is

Craig Burley can't believe Unai Emery hasn't been able to find a consistent XI at Arsenal this season.

Klopp's Liverpool = Fergie's Man United

Saturday's late show at Aston Villa means Liverpool have won 10 points from losing positions this season. It has been said in this column before, but there really is something of Sir Alex Ferguson's great Manchester United teams about Jurgen Klopp's men.

If they did this sort of thing once or twice, you might say Liverpool were riding their luck and would get found out soon, but four times in the last month they have scored after the 85th minute to convert defeats into draws and draws into wins.

They are sensational and the Premier League is better for having two superpowers, who will meet next Sunday in one of the great diary-clearing games. Speaking of which...

More spice in the Man City-Liverpool rivalry

Call it undignified, unfair or petty, but it was enjoyable to hear Pep Guardiola slip in a completely unprompted mention of Sadio Mane's apparent diving habit after Manchester City produced their own comeback win against Southampton.

It is more entertaining when two teams not only compete with each other on the pitch, but don't like each other off it. There has always been a rivalry between Klopp and Guardiola, but to have a little extra needle is also very welcome.

Are Liverpool stumbling ahead of Man City showdown?

Ale Moreno says Liverpool's close results might indicate a dip in form ahead of a clash with Manchester City.

Southampton retain some dignity

Without wishing to be patronising, you hope that Southampton will take heart from their performances in Manchester last week.

A defeat like the 9-0 drubbing suffered against Leicester can destroy teams, but in taking the lead and pushing City as close as they did on Saturday, Saints have at least reclaimed some dignity.

"We wanted to show a reaction, we did and this is the most important thing," said Ralph Hasenhuttl.

That is great for now, but the important bit is turning that reaction into something more tangible in the weeks ahead.

Pulisic only 'one bad performance' from the bench

Ale Moreno says Christian Pulisic's two good performances have not secured him a regular first team spot yet.

Chelsea thrive under Funtime Frankie

Even if Frank Lampard was not Frank Lampard, he would still be more popular with Chelsea fans than predecessor Maurizio Sarri, simply because of his team's style of play and attitude, which was perfectly encapsulated in their first goal against Watford.

One of the notable things about Lampard's tenure with Derby was how many long shots they took; to put it another way, how much he encouraged risks, to eschew the safe and sensible.

Which is what we saw in the Blues' 2-1 win over Watford when Jorginho, liberated now he is no longer required just to make 100 five-yard passes every game, played a remarkable through ball to Tammy Abraham, who in turn had anticipated the gamble with one of his own and finished with the confidence of a man stroking home his ninth goal in 10 starts.

It was a brilliant goal and one that only happened because Chelsea's players, given freedom by their new manager, feel confident to try things.

Ake the man to snuff out United

Plenty of the Premier League's theoretical big boys have chronic problems in defence, but if any of them needed a handy fix in January then they could do a lot worse than Nathan Ake.

Admittedly beating Manchester United is not the achievement it once was, but the Dutch international was terrific in the Cherries' 1-0 win. Along with Steve Cook, Ake solved with ease the relatively few problems Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side did cause.

What's eating West Ham?

It has been a season of two halves for West Ham, and only just over a quarter of it has gone. Manuel Pellegrini's side only lost one of their opening seven games in all competitions -- to Manchester City -- but since have failed to win any of the following six, including elimination from the Carabao Cup by Oxford.

There does not seem to be one big, single problem, more a series of smaller ones. They include, but are not limited to: a lack of pace; Sebastian Haller continuing to be isolated; curious team selections by Pellegrini; a bit of a nothing midfield; and the injured Lukasz Fabianski's replacement Roberto being a walking calamity zone.

On the one hand, this is good because at least there is no fundamental flaw undermining everything, but on the other ... well, there's a lot of work to do. Saturday's defeat to Newcastle left West Ham 13th and the current buffer from the bottom three will not be there much longer if this continue.

Hats off to Coleman

Most of the focus at Everton will rightly be on hoping Andre Gomes has a swift recovery from his horrific broken ankle, but a word for Seamus Coleman, who was standing far too close to the incident for a man who suffered a similarly awful injury a couple of years ago.

Son Heung-min should not have been sent off for the foul from which Gomes stumbled into his accidental injury, but Spurs can appeal that.

More of a concern could be the mental impact, so hats off to Coleman for seeking Son out and offering what reassurance he could.

Luckiest moment of the weekend

I desperately did not want to write about VAR again and would have been happy to ignore the Roberto Firmino offside, but Everton vs. Tottenham -- two teams that had little good fortune last season, according to ESPN's Luck Index -- made it unavoidable.

It sums things up that, in assessing whether Dele Alli had handled in the Spurs area, the game stopped for over three minutes and the VAR still got the decision wrong. The only possible explanation was that Yerry Mina's elbow fouled Alli and caused the Tottenham man's arm to raise, but that would be a generous interpretation.

Alli got away with it and, by doing so, showed once more that VAR is not working.

We are either approaching -- or perhaps have already passed -- the point where you simply cannot write off ongoing issues as teething problems.

Mushfiqur rewarded by holding nerve to take chase deep

Published in Cricket
Sunday, 03 November 2019 19:04

It was difficult to focus on it through the toxic haze, and even more difficult for those playing it - two players vomited during the game - but the Feroz Shah Kotla T20I was a great study in minute tactics and larger struggles of batsmen looking to find their touch, and the intersection of both. One captain known for his studied and deliberate decision-making went against a side known for emotionally charged cricket, and it made for a gripping finish.

Rohit Sharma, India's stand-in captain but a clinical leader of the Mumbai Indians, made a seemingly un-clinical move by leaving the young Khaleel Ahmed three overs to bowl in the last six. His third eventually went for 18, sealing Bangladesh's chase, relieving some of the nightmares Mushfiqur Rahim might have had from the unfinished job in Bengaluru three years ago.

Players actually think less of those nightmares than we do. Not least because Mushfiqur knew he has finished many a game off for Bangladesh since then. It was more challenging from the point of view of where Mushfiqur stood and where his team stood. After all the drama of the last fortnight - "the toughest two weeks of my 15-year career" - Mushfiqur knew the only way back was winning matches.

ALSO READ: 'Nothing feels more special' - Mushfiqur Rahim on making tough runs

In the way of that win were struggles on a slow pitch with turn on it and canny spinners exploiting it. Mushfiqur and Soumya Sarkar struggled to find any sort of fluency into their innings. After they had spent six overs together, ESPNcricinfo's Forecaster gave them a 65% chance of winning. It seemed optimistic: the ball was turning, and the two were going at around a run a ball despite having tried adventurous shots.

The T20 rule of thumb for these situations in chases is that you hit out only if the conditions are flat. Otherwise, if you are a seasoned batsman, if you are finding it difficult, chances are the next batsman will find it more difficult. So you back yourself. So Mushfiqur and Soumya decided to fight it out and take the game deep and wait for the seamers.

Unknown to themselves, the Bangladesh pair pushed the seamers back by simply not getting out, leaving, as a result, Khaleel with three overs at the end. Now Rohit might ask Jasprit Bumrah or Lasith Malinga to bowl three at the death, but he ideally doesn't want Khaleel in that position. However, he is calculating in his head that after Soumya, Mahmudullah will come out to bat so he is waiting to see if he can re-introduce Khaleel to two right-hand batsmen instead of a left-hand batsman.

It is as much about protecting Khaleel's left-arm angle into the left-hand batsman as it is about exploiting the angle across the right-hand batsmen. Rohit would later say that angle troubled them too. Rohit knows he can keep Yuzvendra Chahal back for one over but other spinners need to bowl out before the death. So that window to get that one Khaleel over out of the way is brief, a window that Mushfiqur and Soumya unwittingly shut by just looking to take the game deep.

Chahal goes for just one run in the 10th, Washington Sundar concedes just four in the 13th, the first six overs of the partnership bring just 40 runs, the asking rate keeps rising, but neither of them gives up the ghost.

"Only the batsmen in the middle know what's going on in the pitch," Mushfiqur said. "Not anyone in the dugout, not the next batsman. I told Soumya if one of us bats till the 19th over, we can still chase 25 because they will bowl seamers."

It is true India would bowl seamers in the last two, but to get three straight overs from Khaleel to be able to line him up is a bonus Bangladesh get without really working towards it. In ultimate irony, Khaleel gets the wicket of the left-hand batsman, a precondition, if fulfilled sooner, that might have given him an easier task at the death. Such events can make a captain look silly at times, but captaincy is not done in hindsight. Rohit had a sound cricketing reason for what he did.

And so begins the 19th over with all the similarities of that Bengaluru heartbreak coming to fore. A similar target, same opposition, the same two batsmen out in the middle. This time, though, they have Khaleel instead of Bumrah. The stakes might not be as high as in a virtual World Cup quarter final, but losing will raise more questions about their finishing abilities against India. Losing will send them back to thinking about the events of the last two weeks.

Mushfiqur gets the better of Khaleel here, ruining his figures of three overs for 20 runs. Mushfiqur eventually ends up with a strike-rate of 140, Bangladesh have their first win in India after having let the Forecaster drop to 49%, but it is fascinating to imagine how the game plays out if Soumya falls to spin around the 11th over. Khaleel tries to sneak an over in, but surely Bangladesh don't sit back and let him bowl that over. Or perhaps in a similar situation next time, Rohit - who usually has a proper sixth bowling option at the Mumbai Indians - tries to sneak one in from Shivam Dube.

There is relief too that the next such set piece will be played in much more breathable air.

Rodgers: Pack served 'humble pie' in loss to Bolts

Published in Breaking News
Sunday, 03 November 2019 18:31

CARSON, Calif. -- The Green Bay Packers' plans to keep rolling were derailed under the most unusual circumstances Sunday: in a visiting stadium filled with their fans, who expected to see Aaron Rodgers and the offense keep rolling.

Instead, even with an early departure to Southern California on Friday, the Packers put together their worst offensive performance of the season in a 26-11 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, whose fans were outnumbered in their building.

"This is a good slice of humble pie for us," Rodgers said after he threw for a season-low 161 yards on 23-of-35 passing for just one touchdown.

"We're kind of rolling, 7-1, and starting to listen to the chatter maybe a little too much. I think this will be a good thing for us. We'll regroup, go back home and play another good team [Carolina] before the bye."

Two weeks after his perfect-passer-rating game against the Raiders and a week after he threw three touchdowns to running backs for the first time in his career, Rodgers and the offense put up 50 total yards in the first half.

This was by a team that left Green Bay a day earlier than usual to get acclimated to not only the California heat but also the time change after the long flight.

Rodgers suggested that perhaps that could have been part of the problem. Although he didn't call out anyone specifically, Rodgers' comment left open for interpretation whether everyone handled the time in California the right way.

"We've got to be honest about our routine and decisions we made the last 48 hours and make sure that our heads are in the right place the next time we come on a big road trip, which will just be in three weeks," Rodgers said, referring to the Nov. 24 game at the San Francisco 49ers.

"I think it can happen to any team," Rodgers said. "I don't think it was complacency at all. Whether it was the trip, not everybody taking care of themselves the right way over the two days or we were just tired or the differences in temperature, but those are just excuses. The facts are that we weren't locked in from the start, and that's a little disappointing."

Rodgers said the offense was not focused. "We didn't have the energy and the focus that we needed to be a little more effective," he said.

"Offensively, there was no rhythm whatsoever," Packers coach Matt LaFleur said. "I want to say we had three false start penalties, a delay of game, a couple sacks and just never got into rhythm, never really got into the plan."

Heat take historically big lead in rout of Rockets

Published in Basketball
Sunday, 03 November 2019 17:50

MIAMI -- The game wasn't over after 16 minutes.

Forgive Miami and Houston if they felt otherwise.

Duncan Robinson scored 23 points, Meyers Leonard added 21 and the Heat -- fueled by one of the biggest first-quarter margins in NBA history -- ran out to a 59-18 lead on the way to an easy 129-100 win over the Houston Rockets on Sunday night.

"Surprising? Not surprising to me," Leonard said. "Don't get it twisted. The Houston Rockets are incredibly talented. But we came in with a game plan and a mindset that we were going to take away what they're good at, be disciplined and execute. That's what we did."

Jimmy Butler scored 18 points and had nine assists for the Heat, and James Johnson scored 17 in his season debut. Miami is 5-1, matching the best six-game start in franchise history.

James Harden scored 29 for Houston, while Russell Westbrook was held to only 10. The Heat had 38 assists to Houston's 19, and the Rockets were just 14 of 48 from 3-point range.

"We're not in trouble," Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni said after his team fell to 3-3. "But if we think we're not in trouble, then we're in trouble -- if that makes sense. You've got to have that appropriate fear and understand that it's a new year and you don't start with any games and we've got to work our way back."

It was a record-setting opening quarter for the Heat -- resulting in the third-biggest lead after 12 minutes in the NBA's shot-clock era, starting with the 1954-55 season.

Miami led 46-14 after that first quarter. The only bigger leads after one quarter since the shot clock was put into play came when the Los Angeles Lakers led the Sacramento Kings 40-4 after one quarter on Feb. 4, 1987, and the Baltimore Bullets leading the Kansas City-Omaha Kings 45-12 after one quarter on Dec. 9, 1972.

"They came out and blitzed us," Harden said. "They brought energy and effort that we couldn't match. And it showed."

It was the biggest margin by which the Heat had outscored an opponent in any quarter -- and the biggest margin by which the Rockets had ever been outscored in a period. Miami outscored New York by 28 in the first quarter on Jan. 22, 2007; the then-San Diego Rockets were outscored by 28 against Atlanta in the third quarter on Feb. 11, 1970.

The lead was 59-18 four minutes into the second quarter. Houston got within 25 points by halftime, but no closer from there.

"The energy, I don't have many complaints," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "Guys really brought it tonight."

Goran Dragic scored 15 points and Tyler Herro had 12 for Miami. Chris Clemons had 16 and Ben McLemore scored 14 for Houston.

TIP-INS

Rockets: Westbrook started 1 for 9 from the field, 0 for 5 from 3-point range -- with his first make from beyond the arc coming on a 45-footer that beat the third-quarter buzzer. That got Houston within 99-71. ... The Rockets have faced deficits of at least 13 points in four consecutive games -- the other three falling well shy of the 41-point hole Houston quickly dug Sunday. ... Houston has now lost 13 of its last 17 games in Miami, and trails the all-time series with the Heat 33-32.

Heat: Miami had a 48-point quarter at New York in 1989 and a 47-point quarter at Boston in 1990. The 46-point quarter was a Heat home record. ... Chris Bosh and Ray Allen -- who teamed up for one of the biggest plays in NBA Finals history, the rebound and 3-pointer late in Game 6 of the 2013 series against San Antonio -- were in attendance. So was Dorell Wright, part of the 2006 Heat NBA championship team. ... Justise Winslow (lower back stiffness) missed his second consecutive game. Derrick Jones Jr. (left groin) and KZ Okpala (left Achilles) were inactive.

HARDEN'S SHOOTING

Harden was 6 for 14 from the field and 3 for 9 from 3-point range -- not great numbers for an elite scorer like him, but his percentages for the season actually rose. He's up to 37% from the field now through six games, 22% from 3-point range. All-time in Miami, Harden is shooting 39% from the field, 33% from beyond the arc.

CLEMONS DEBUTS

Clemons, the third-leading scorer in NCAA Division I men's history and someone who averaged 30.1 per game as a senior at Campbell last season, made his NBA debut. Clemons scored 3,225 points in 130 college games, and was 5 for 18 from the floor Sunday.

UP NEXT

Rockets: At Memphis on Monday, ending a four-game road trip.

Heat: At Denver on Tuesday, opening a three-game West swing.

Success for the Ivory Coast but it was disappointment for Ghana; at the semi-final stage of the men’s singles event, Oba Kizito Oba accounted for Derek Abrefa, Benin’s Monday Oladele Olabayi ended the hopes of Emmanuel Commey.

Oba Kizito Oba progressed to secure the title recording a straight games win in opposition to Monday Oladele Olabayi; Derek Abfrefa claimed third place.

Gold for Oba Kizito Oba delighted those present in the Multipurpose Hall in Trenchville, as did the final of the women’s singles event; a contest in which Fatimo Bello recovered from a two games to nil deficit to eventually record a six games win against colleague Esther Oribamise.

“It was not easy at all because I had to come from behind to win the encounter. I am very happy and grateful to the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation for the opportunity to represent my country. I must also acknowledge the support from the city of Abidjan. It is my first time in this lovely country and I look forward to returning.” Fatima Bello

Earlier in the day at the semi-final stage, Fatimo Bello had beaten Benin’s Ziadeth Olaide Akadiri, Esther Oribamise had prevailed in opposition to the host country’s Akoua Nadia Kamenan. Notably Akoua Nadia Kamenan concluded matters in third place.

It is proposed that the winners will be awarded places in the 2020 ITTF-Africa Top 16 Cup in Tunisia.
