BMC record falls at Gillingham while there were also British masters records for Sally Cooke and Alan Carter at Hendon and Harrow

Ellie Baker out-sprinted American Taryn Rawlings to win the women’s race in a personal best of 1:59.52 – a BMC women’s only race record.

Rawlings wasn’t far behind in second with 1:59.83.

LONDON INTER CLUB CHALLENGE, Hendon, August 28

Sally Cooke, who set a world masters W50 400m record at the British Masters Championships of 57.55 and a UK 200m age-group record of 26.27 earlier in the month, took four seconds off of the UK W50 record with 2:14.56 in Hendon.

That time was nine seconds quicker than her previous best listed on Power of 10 and the mark was also better than the record for the next age group down (W45).

Carter has previously won numerous sprint and sprint hurdles medals at World and European level and is a double world masters champion in the long hurdles event.
