Mohamed ElShorbagy and Sarah-Jane Perry will team up for England in the new Nations Cup tournament being launched in New Zealand in November.

ElShorbagy recently switched international allegiance from Egypt to England after gaining his British passport.

He and his brother Marwan have lived in Bristol for their entire professional careers after attending Millfield School in Somerset.

ElShorbagy, the former world No.1, a four-times British Open champion and men’s world champion in Manchester in 2017, joins Midlands-based Perry in the new-look Nations Cup event.

England’s Nations Cup team is announced

World No.7 Perry, who won a silver medal in the women’s doubles alongside Alison Waters in the recent Commonwealth Games, will partner the men”s world No.5 at the Trustpower Arena in Tauranga, NZ.

The Nations Cup will trial a new format featuring matches that will be the best of seven games to seven points. The games will also feature Power Plays.

Eight Nations will be competing in Tauranga from November 3-6. Paul Coll and Joelle King will be representing the host nation.

ElShorbagy is No.2 seed in the men’s draw of this week’s Oracle NetSuite Open in San Francisco. He won the recent Qatar Classic after becoming British Nationals champion in Manchester in June.
