International Table Tennis President Petra Sörling, ITTF Executive Committee Member Ryu Seung-min, and Secretary General Raul Calin are in Seoul, South Korea for the Association of National Olympic Committees General Assembly.
The ITTF delegation will meet with Olympic leaders as well as National Olympic Committees to further deepen ties table tennis has with the Olympic family.
“Engaging with the Olympic family is always a treat for a sport with the global reach table tennis has,” President Sörling said. “We look forward to a productive few days in Seoul, and are grateful for our hosts and the opportunity to be a part of the 2022 ANOC General Assembly.”
The annual gathering of the world’s National Olympic Committees provides a wonderful forum to engage with stakeholders around the world.
Furthermore, Sheikha Hayat Al-Khalifa, member of Bahrain Olympic Committee and President of Bahrain Table Tennis Association, Abdulla Al-Mula, member of Qatar Olympic Committee and ITTF Board of Directors as well as Acting Chair of the ITTF Nominations Committee, Philippe Hao Thyn Voon HA SHUN, President of the Mauritius Olympic Committee, Emmanuel Kolibadis, Secretary General of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Olabanji Oladapo, Secretary General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee and member of the ITTF Board of Directors, Jean-Michel Saive, President of the Belgian Olympic Committee, and Alexander Zamora, President of the Costa Rican Olympic Committee and member of the ITTF Board of Directors, were all present in Seoul, showcasing the vast reach the table tennis family has worldwide.
Visiting Seoul also gives the ITTF a chance to engage with the organizing committee for the upcoming 2024 World Team Championships in Busan, South Korea, of which Ryu is committee President. Busan 2024 will be the first time that the ITTF hosts a World Championships in South Korea.
