Sri Lanka chose to bat vs Netherlands
Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat in the crucial qualifying match against Netherlands, having
won batting first against the UAE on Tuesday. The team that wins this match is guaranteed a place main draw of the T20 World Cup. The side that loses will need UAE to beat Namibia by a substantial margin, later in the day, to have any hope of qualifying.
Netherlands made no changes to the XI that
defeated Namibia on Tuesday, which they had done chasing, as they will in this match.
With
injuries ripping through Sri Lanka's fast-bowling battery, they were forced to make two changes, bringing in
Lahiru Kumara and left-armer
Binura Fernando in place of Dushmantha Chameera (who is out of the tournament) and Pramod Madushan (who is out for at least one match). With Danushka Gunathilaka also still injured, Charith Asalanka remains in the top order.
The weather is expected to remain good through the match. The toss was conducted in bright sunshine.
