Over the years, a whole host of fine players have emanated from Romania, one of the most recent is Eduard Ionescu.

At the 2022 European Youth Championships in Belgrade, he was the star of the show, the 17-year-old departed the Stark Arena, with no less than three titles to his credit.

In the under 19 age group, alongside, Iulian Chirita and Darius Movileanu, he helped steer Romania to the highest step of the boys’ team podium. Later, he won the boys’ doubles alongside Darius Movileanu, before concluding matters by securing the most prestigious accolade of all, boys’ singles gold.
