European Indoor Championships, Istanbul, Turkey, March 2-5

Great Britain won three golds – two very predictable in Keely Hodgkinson at 800m and Laura Muir at 1500m but a more surprising Jaz Sawyers who set a British record and world lead of 7.00m in the long jump.

There were also medals for Neil Gourley in the 1500m, Daryll Neita in the 60m and Melissa Courtney-Bryant at 3000m.

There were double golds or Femke Bol (400m and 4x400m) and Jakob Ingebrigtsen (1500m and 3000m) and a world record for Nafi Thiam in the pentathlon while Adrianna Sułek also broke the old mark and for six seconds (the gap between them in the 1000m) was technically the world record-holder!

Norway, thanks to Jakob Ingebrigtsen, topped the medal tables ahead of Bol’s Netherlands with Britain third.

Britain finished second in the points standings to Italy, who were aided by an one-two in the 60m for Samuele Ceccarelli and Marcell Jacobs.
