Scot blazes fast time in midweek 800m while deep results of BMC Watford and news of age-group mile best

BMC GOLD STANDARD RACES, Stretford, June 27

Laura Muir ran the second fastest women’s 800m in the world in 2023 as she ran 1:57.30 in a mixed race.

She ran 1:57.23 in a mixed race last year at Trafford and this is her third best ever time having run 1:57.73 in Monaco in 2021.

Only Keely Hodgkinson has run quicker worldwide in 2023.

The women’s-only 800m was won in 2:02.78 by Australian Jaylah Hancock-Cameron.

There were five men who ran sub-1:50 including under-20 twins Elliot (1:49.46) and Evan Savage (1:49.93) who set PB’s in different races.

KENT 3000m/10,000m CHAMPIONSHIPS WITH DARTFORD H OPEN, Dartford, June 28

In his 10,000m track debut, 2:26:03 marathoner Jack Ramm was a clear winner of the Kent title running well over a minute quicker on his second half after a group of five ran most of the first half in just inside 17 minutes.

Hannah Clark had won the South of England under-20 1500m title by just three hundredths of a second from Amy Jayne-Goodhand who had beaten her by 0.10 of a seco0nd in the Kent Championships and this pair disputed  the women’s 3000m with Clark pulling well clear over the second half to take another under-20 gold.

Though trailing the two ahead who were well over 40 years younger, in third, Clare Elms, who was already the oldest ever Kent senior cross-country champion at 47, here became the oldest  ever winner of the senior 3000m at the age of 59 as she set a UK age outdoor record.
