Ireland back row Caelan Doris has signed a three-year contract extension with Leinster until 2027, the Irish Rugby Football Union has announced.

Doris, 25, has been one of Ireland's standout performers in recent times and was named Irish players' player of the year last season.

The back row said that he "looked forward to continuing my journey at home in Ireland with Leinster".

"I am hugely excited about what the future has to offer," added Doris.

"It has been a dream come true to play in ambitious environments at club and international levels, and I believe that the best is yet to come, both for me personally and as a collective."

IRFU high performance director David Nucifora said Doris' decision demonstrated the governing body's commitment to "attracting and retaining the highest playing and coaching talent".

"We are delighted that Caelan has signed this new deal," added Nucifora.

"Since making his debut for Ireland three years ago Caelan has proved himself as a world-class performer, and today's announcement is testament to his growing reputation and high standing both here in Ireland and internationally."

Doris brought his Ireland caps total up to 36 at the recent World Cup in France after helping his country clinch the Grand Slam earlier this year.

Following the World Cup, he was named in the World Rugby men's team of the year.

The Mayo native has won four United Rugby Championship titles with Leinster since 2018.
