Raducanu wins to set up Jabeur match in Abu Dhabi
Written by I Dig SportsEmma Raducanu claimed a straight-set win over Marie Bouzkova to set up a second-round match with Ons Jabeur at the Abu Dhabi Open.
The 21-year-old Briton fought back from a break down in the opening set before dominating the second to win 6-4 6-1.
Raducanu missed the final eight months of last season following wrist and ankle surgeries.
She made her Grand Slam return at last month's Australian Open, losing in the second round to China's Wang Yafan.
A wildcard recipient in Abu Dhabi, Raducanu will continue her comeback from injury when she faces Tunisia's Jabeur, a two-time Wimbledon finalist and world number six, in the next round.
Raducanu, who won the US Open in 2021, has never won against a top-10 opponent in four attempts.
British number four Heather Watson will take on Russian ninth seed Veronika Kudermetova on Tuesday.
