Bath prop Archie Griffin and Scarlets wing Tom Rogers have been released from the Six Nations squad because of injury.

Griffin, 22, suffered a knee injury while earning his first cap against England after coming on as a replacement at Twickenham.

Wales say a replacement for Griffin will be named.

Rogers, 24, has a chest injury and has not played in the two narrow defeats against Scotland and England.

He sustained the problem during Scarlets' European Challenge Cup defeat against Clermont Auvergne on 13 January.

Wales say Scarlets fly-half Sam Costelow has recovered from a neck problem after missing the defeat to England.

Costelow picked up the injury during the first half of the 27-26 loss to Scotland with Ioan Lloyd starting at Twickenham.

Prop concern

Warren Gatland has a tight-head prop issue before the trip to face defending champions Ireland on 24 February in Dublin.

Cardiff prop Keiron Assiratti started at Twickenham and is currently the only fit tight-head preparing with the Wales squad this week with Dillon Lewis returning to his English club Harlequins for this weekend.

Dragons prop Leon Brown started the opening match against Scotland but suffered a shoulder injury with Lewis joining the squad before the England loss.

France-based club pair Tomas Francis and Henry Thomas were not selected for this Six Nations campaign after being involved in the 2023 World Cup.

Dragons prop Lloyd Fairbrother played in the uncapped international against Barbarians in November 2023 but is currently out with a calf injury.

Scarlets youngster Harri O'Connor was on the bench in that game in Cardiff, while his team-mate Sam Wainwright has played Test rugby.

Wales will release five players back to three Welsh professional sides for the United Rugby Championship (URC) fixtures this weekend.

Scarlets duo Kemsley Mathias and Joe Roberts, Cardiff forwards Seb Davies and Mackenzie Martin and Dragons full-back Cai Evans are available for league matches.

English-based players Dafydd Jenkins, Nick Tompkins, Tommy Reffell and Lewis return to their clubs this weekend, while lock Will Rowlands goes back to French side Racing 92.
