Gagner on waivers after a third stint in Edmonton
Written by I Dig SportsThe Edmonton Oilers placed veteran forward Sam Gagner on waivers Tuesday, potentially clearing roster space for a deal leading up to Friday's NHL trade deadline.
Gagner, 34, has five goals and 10 points in 27 games this season, averaging 10:14 time on ice.
He is in his third tour with Edmonton after signing a one-year, two-way deal worth $775,000 in late October.
The Oilers selected Gagner with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2007 NHL draft and he played for the club from 2007-14 and again from 2019-20.
Gagner has collected 529 points, including 197 goals, in 1,042 career games over 17 seasons with seven NHL teams.
The Oilers, with 37 wins and 76 points, are in second place in the Pacific Division, nine points away from the Vancouver Canucks. On Tuesday night, Edmonton will take on the Boston Bruins.
