Manchester City will continue their pursuit of an eighth FA Cup when they play Chelsea in the semifinal stage of this season's competition.

In the other semifinal, Manchester United were rewarded with a tie against Championship side Coventry City, having edged past Liverpool in an exhilarating 4-3 win at Old Trafford earlier on Sunday.

City became the first team in history to reach six consecutive FA Cup semifinals when they beat Newcastle 2-0 on Saturday thanks to two goals from Bernardo Silva.

Coventry made history of their own on Saturday when they scored two goals in second-half stoppage time to complete an unlikely comeback against Wolves, securing a place in the semifinals for the second time.

Chelsea, who are taking a second trip to Wembley this season, having lost the Carabao Cup final to Liverpool on Feb. 25, eventually overcame Leicester 4-2 earlier on Saturday.

Both Premier League matches between City and Chelsea have failed to produce a winner this season with Cole Palmer scoring a 95th minute penalty in a memorable 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge in November.

The fixture is a repeat of the 2021 Champions League final that the west London club won 1-0 in Porto.

Sunday's semifinal draw keeps alive the prospect of a Manchester derby in April's final with Pep Guardiola's team still on course for an unprecedented consecutive treble.

The semifinals are due to be played on April 20-21 at Wembley Stadium.
