Sullivan, who is 14, has impressed as part of Philadelphia Union's academy and has also represented the U.S. at youth level.

The City Group, headed by Premier League and European champions Manchester City, have been aware of Sullivan's progress for a while and are ahead in the race to secure the teenager's future despite interest from other major clubs in Europe.

A source has told ESPN that The City Group would possibly look to place Sullivan with one of their clubs in Europe once the forward has turned 16.

Belgian side Lommel SK, managed by former Arsenal defender Steve Bould, are among the options. He would not be allowed to join Manchester City until he's 18.

A source has told ESPN that reports Sullivan has already reached an agreement with The City Group are premature and there remains a scenario which would see the teenager stay with Philadelphia, at least for now.

"Those that maybe haven't learned yet, a young Cavan Sullivan has the talent and ability to become, I'll just say, a household name and is doing really big things," Philadelphia head coach Jim Curtin said last year.
