Moore 'mentally ready' to return after doping clearance

British doubles player Tara Moore says she feels "mentally ready" to return after a two-year absence because of a doping ban which was later overturned.

Moore, 31, has set up a fundraising page to help finance her comeback.

She was provisionally banned in May 2022. It was lifted last December when an independent panel ruled contaminated meat was the source of her failed test.

"I am now exonerated and feel mentally ready to take back my Grand Slam positions," said Moore.

Now unranked, Moore has asked supporters to help fund her training and expenses, including "food, travel, and ongoing legal fees".

She tested positive for nandrolone metabolites and boldenone from a test when she was competing in the Colombian capital Bogota in April 2022.

Moore was Britain's leading women's doubles player when she was provisionally banned and reached a career-high ranking of 77th in the world.

She maintained she had never "knowingly taken a banned substance" and intended to prove she was a "clean athlete".

The independent tribunal found Moore "bore no fault or negligence" for her adverse analytical finding.

However, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) is appealing against the ruling that Moore was not to blame.

It is contesting the independent tribunal's decision about the nandrolone ingested, with that appeal to take place at the Court of Arbitration for Sport at a future date.
