Iconic Trophies and Medals ready for the revival of the ITTF World Cup

The Evans Cup is awarded to the winner of the ITTF Mens World Cup, inaugurated in 1980 in Hong Kong, China. This prestigious trophy is named after Roy Evans, the second president of ITTF who served for 20 years.Guo Yuehua was the first to lift the Evans Cup and would later go on to win the trophy again in 1982. Overall, China has won the Evans Cup 26 times over the past 41 editions of the ITTF Mens World Cup, with Ma Lin (2000, 2003, 2004, 2006) and Fan Zhendong (2016, 2018, 2019, 2020) holding the joint record for most wins, each securing the cup four times.
Hammarlund Cup
Bestowed upon the champion of the ITTF Womens World Cup, the Hammarlund Cup is named in memory of Sven-Olaf Lollo Hammarlund, the fourth president of ITTF. Presented for the first time in 1996 to Deng Yaping, the winner of the inaugural Womens World Cup in Hong Kong, China. Since then, China has claimed the Hammarlund Cup 23 out of 24 occasions with Liu Shiwen holding the record of five wins (2009, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2019). Notably, the only non-Chinese player to win the Hammarlund Cup is Japans Miu Hirano who took home the trophy in 2016 in Philadelphia.
Medal Design: Lotus Blooming
Reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Macao, China, the medal design of the ITTF Mens and Womens World Cup 2024 medal draws inspiration from the lotus flower, which holds significant cultural importance for the host and is the floral emblem of the region. The elegant and minimalist lines of the design, combined with an asymmetric interlace, depict the lotus flying into the sky and blossoming from every angle.
Crafted from a single piece of pure copper casting, the medals body is sleek, circular, and weighs up to 420 grams. Through meticulous processing including cutting, hand grinding, polishing, and electroplating, it boasts a refined and compact texture, with gold and sand spilling. The portrayal of the lotus in full bloom on the medal symbolises Macaos enduring prosperity and resilience and signifies the success of the ITTF Mens and Womens World Cup 2024.
