After Wrexham earned their second consecutive promotion with Saturday's 6-0 win over Forest Green, Ryan Reynolds said the emotional journey of his and Rob McElhenney's ownership of the club has been "the ride of our lives."

The ambitious Welsh side's emphatic victory ensured their promotion to League One -- the third tier of English football -- for the first time in 19 years and with two matches to spare.

Wrexham are second in the League two standings with 82 points from 44 games, and remain in with a chance of winning the title as the season draws to a close

Actors Reynolds and McElhenney took over the 159-year-old team in November 2020 but missed out on promotion from the National League in their first full season, before ending a 15-year exile in non-league football in the 2022-23 campaign after an epic battle with Notts County.

"A few years ago, if you told me I would be crying tears of joy over a football match taking place in North Wales, you would be Rob McElhenney," Reynolds wrote on social media site X.

"Double up the town! This is the ride of our lives."

In another post responding to a fan celebrating the latest promotion, Reynolds wrote:"Wrexham is indeed magic," adding that the owners are indebted to the club's supporters.

"No Words," McElhenney wrote after the match, posting a picture of Wrexham's leading goal scorer Paul Mullin celebrating with fans.
