Fatima El-Elimat Emerges Top Name at ITTF Al-Watani Para Open
Written by I Dig SportsTwo titles just under one year ago when the tournament was held in June, at the 2024 ITTF Al-Watani Para Open staged once again in the Jordan capital city of Amman, the host nations Fatima El-Elimat went one better.
Play concluding after three days of action on Monday 22nd April, she emerged the most successful player in the tournament, a full house of three titles was the reward for her efforts.
In 2023 she had won womens singles class 4-5 and mixed doubles class 7 partnering compatriot, Osama Abu Jame.
Now some 10 months later, she won womens singles class 4, mixed doubles class 7-10 again partnering Osama Abu Jame, having earlier on the concluding day of play, secured the womens doubles class 5-10 title in harness with Indias Ushabahen Rathod.
A successful venture for Fatima El-Elimat; it was similar for Osama Abu Jane alongside Uzbekistans Sunnatillo Murodulaev, Iraqs Muntadher Al-Sarraji and Sri Lankas Dinesh Pitiyage. All departed Amman with two titles in their collection.
Osama Abu Jame partnered Muntadher Al-Sarraji, the mens singles class 4-5 winner, to mens doubles class 8 gold; Sunnatillo Murodulaev and Dinesh Pitiyage combined to win mens doubles class 14-18.
One day earlier, in the mens singles events, Sunnatillo Murodulaev had struck gold in class 6-8, Dinesh Pitiyage had prevailed in class 9-10.
Success for Iraq in the guise of Muntadher Al-Sarraji, there was more; Rasool Al-Mayyah won mens singles class 2-3, Hadeel Al-Waeli prevailed in class 1-3, Abdul Rahman Shafeeq and Najlah Al-Dayyeni prevailed in mixed doubles class 17-20.
Meanwhile, Ali Al-Saedi added to Iraqs collection, he partnered Kuwaits Munahi Bin Libdah to mens doubles class 4 gold.
In the remaining events, Antreas Aravis from Cyprus won mens singles class 1, Indias Baby Ravi secured the womens singles class 6-10 title.
Play concluded in Amman attention turns to Podgorica, the ITTF Montenegro Para Championships 2024, a four day tournament, commences on Wednesday 1st May.
