CHICAGO -- The Minnesota Twins activated Carlos Correa from the 10-day injured list before Monday's 3-2 win at the Chicago White Sox.

The star shortstop, who was dealing with a strained right rib cage muscle, was in the starting lineup for the first time in 16 games, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout as the Twins won their eighth straight game.

Correa batted .306 with 2 doubles, 1 home run, 4 RBIs and 8 walks in 11 games before he was hurt checking his swing during a strikeout April 12. Willi Castro played the majority of the games at shortstop in Correa's absence.

The 29-year-old Correa didn't need a rehabilitation assignment.

The Twins optioned multi-position player Austin Martin to Triple-A St. Paul to make room on the 26-man roster. Martin batted .226 with 16 runs, 6 doubles, 6 walks, 2 steals and 1 homer in 22 games.
