Ryu Seung-min and Mayssa Bsaibes Join ITTF Sustainability Committee

The ITTF Sustainability Committee welcomed two new members, Ryu Seung-min and Mayssa Bsaibes, in its latest meeting.

Both of them are members of the IOC Sustainability and Legacy Commission, and will bring a wealth of insights to ITTF efforts to champion a more sustainable sport ecosystem

Ryu Seung-min, a gold medalist at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, is a prominent figure in the table tennis world and the Olympic movement. Serving as the first Vice-Chair of the IOC Athletes Commission since 2021 and a member of the IOC Sustainability and Legacy Commission, he brings invaluable insights to ITTFs efforts for a more sustainable sport ecosystem. Additionally, as a member of the ITTF Executive Board and President of the Korea Table Tennis Association (KTTA), he actively contributes to global table tennis development.

Mayssa Bsaibes, an architect and former Lebanese table tennis champion, has transitioned her career to focus on her passion for sports. Now a key member of the ITTF Foundation, she is pursuing a PhD focusing on womens representation and leadership in Lebanese sports, advocating for gender equality in the Middle East, and specifically in Lebanon.

Both were warmly greeted by ITTF Sustainability Committee Chair Mawuko Afadzinu and ITTF President Petra Sörling, who encouraged bold thinking to find sustainable solutions.

They join UAEs Majd Albalooshi, Australias Jan Fitzgerald, and Spains Daniel Valero, ensuring diverse voices are represented from around the world.

The Federation prioritizes People, Planet, and Prosperity in its mission, aiming to balance environmental, social, and economic factors. As a signatory of the UNFCCC Sport for Climate Action Framework and a supporter of the Sport for Nature Framework, ITTF is committed to integrating sustainability into its operations.
