Sources: Pacers to keep Toppin with $60M deal
Written by I Dig SportsRestricted free agent Obi Toppin intends to sign a four-year, $60 million contract to stay with the Indiana Pacers, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Toppin emerged as a top bench contributor for the Eastern Conference finalists.
Toppin had a career season in his first year with the Pacers, averaging 10.3 points on 57.3% shooting from the field in 21.1 minutes per game.
Toppin fit in seamlessly with Indiana's high-powered offense, becoming an elite play-finisher. He accounted for 101 dunks last season, and his 40.3% shooting from 3 is by far a career best.
The Pacers acquired Toppin from the New York Knicks last summer for a pair of second-round picks. New York drafted Toppin with the eighth overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft.
