Just one month remains! Mark your calendars for August 10th, the final day of table tennis action at the Games, where the next Womens Team champion will be crowned. This year marks a momentous milestone table tennis celebrates its 10th appearance as an Olympic event, solidifying its place as a global sporting spectacle.

Lets rewind to the Tokyo 2020 Games. In a thrilling Womens Team final, China faced a stern test from Japan. Though China ultimately secured gold, the opening doubles saw Japan steal the first game, forcing Chen Meng and Wang Manyu to dig deep and showcase their experience to eventually claim victory. The individual matches further highlighted the rising talent in the womens game. Sun Yingsha edged Mima Ito in a rematch of their Singles clash, another display of their fierce competitive spirit. Finally, Wang Manyu delivered a dominant performance against Hirano, sealing the win for China and extending their unbeaten streak in the Womens Team event.

Paris 2024 promises to be a thrilling battle for the crown in Womens Team table tennis. While China remains the undisputed favourite with their formidable trio of Sun Yingsha, Wang Manyu, and Chen Meng, their reign wont be unchallenged. Japan are clear contenders after their recent display at the ITTF World Championships Busan 2024. Although they fell short in the final, they pushed China to their absolute limits, showcasing their incredible potential. Meanwhile France who put on a medal winning performance in Busan will look to give the home crowd something to celebrate.

The Republic of Korea will also be looking to make a strong showing, and with several other teams displaying impressive form in Busan earlier this year, could there be a surprise in store? Team India, having qualified for the Womens Team event for the very first time, will be particularly motivated after their spectacular performances against China in Busan.

Will Paris witness the rise of a new champion, or will China extend their golden run? One thing is for certain: the Womens Team Gold Medal match on August 10 promises to be a thrilling finale to the table tennis competition at Paris 2024. This electrifying showdown, a display of unparalleled skill, strategy, and athleticism, is a must-watch for all table tennis fans. Stay updated with ITTF.com throughout the Games.
