World number one Jannik Sinner opens play on Arthur Ashe Stadium against Alex Michelsen of the US.

Italy's Sinner is aiming for a second Grand Slam title after winning the Australian Open, but had a turbulent build-up to the tournament after it was revealed he tested positive for a banned substance in March.

Sinner is followed by women's top seed Iga Swiatek, who will be the overwhelming favourite against Japanese qualifier Ena Shibahara.

Two-time US Open winner Naomi Osaka of Japan kicks off the evening session against Czech Republic's Karolina Muchova.

Carlos Alcaraz then rounds things off against the Netherlands' Botic van de Zandschlup.

Elsewhere, French Open and Wimbledon finalist Jasmine Paolini faces former world number one Karolina Pliskova, followed by an all-American contest between Emma Raducanu's conqueror Sofia Kenin and sixth seed Jessica Peluga.

Men's fifth seed Daniil Medvedev takes on Hungary's Fabian Marozsan in the evening session.

There is also plenty of doubles action, with significant British interest.

Jamie Murray is due to play in both the men's and the mixed doubles on court six, Heather Watson goes in the women's doubles while Neal Skupski and partner Desirae Krawczyk of the US are also in action.

Harriet Dart, Lloyd Glasspool, Olivia Nicholls, Maia Lumsden and Luke Johnson are the other Brits on court in the doubles.
