Player suspended for 3 months for horror tackle
Written by I Dig SportsDorados de Sinaloa defender Luis Ruiz has been suspended for three months by Mexico's Football Federation (FMF) for causing a serious injury to Atlante player Christian Bermudez.
The Atlante attacking midfielder suffered a double fracture in his right lower leg following Ruiz's violent tackle on Bermudez during a Mexican second division game between the sides on Sept. 13.
Ruiz, 22, will additionally have to serve a four-match ban for the red card shown after the tackle, which means he will not return to play until 2025.
Atlante reported the violent tackle to the disciplinary committee of the FMF, that decided to punish Ruiz after interviewing all parties and looking at the official medical reports,
Bermudez, 37, underwent surgery to repair his fractured fibula and tibia and no timeframe has been given for his return to play.
