Glasgow ease to six-try win after Benetton red card

Poor Benetton went down to 12 men for a short spell towards the end, their discipline shot to smithereens on a bruising night that could have been a whole lot worse had Glasgow been more ruthless with their many chances.

Glasgow got off to a blistering start with a try from deep, started by the irrepressible Tuipulotu from the centre to Hastings, who put Josh McKay through a gap. McKay found Kyle Rowe up the left and he laid it off to Steyn with ease.

Then Glasgow hit them with another, inspired again by Tuipulotu, who stepped away from one tackle and spun out of another to put Fagerson away.

Glasgow were cutting Benetton apart, but the visitors briefly gave their hosts a dose of their own medicine when scoring off a driven lineout, loosehead Spagnolo touching down.

Shortly before the break, though, the game turned when Scrafton hit Hastings illegally.

Hastings did not reappear for a second half during which Jacob Umaga narrowed the gap to 14-10, but the floodgates opened from there.

Benetton spilled it coming out of their 22 and Tom Jordan set up Darge.

Soon after, a slick move off a scrum led to Steyn and Dobie cutting through, the scrum-half skipping over. That was the bonus point. Job done.

Odogwu took Steyn out in the air and saw yellow. Steyn made it a double whammy punishment when scoring seconds later.

The excellent Ferrie popped up in unfamiliar territory to round it off.

They could have scored a bucket more, but the champions are up and running with a five-pointer.
