STOCKON, Calif. D.J. Netto kicked off the 2025 NARC 410 sprint car season in dominate fashion, winning the season-opening Salute to Leroy Van Conett at the Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday.

The Hanford, Calif., driver led all 30 laps, but had to work hard in heavy traffic, fighting off the reigning NARC champion Justin Sanders as they sliced and diced their way through slower cars. Sanders made numerous attempts to get around his fellow former champion, but Netto answered the call.

Unfortunately, Sanders charge came to an abrupt end when he spun while trying to avoid a lapped car with just six laps remaining.

With a clear track in front of him, Netto was never seriously challenged the rest of the way, winning aboard the Penny Newman Green-sponsored Netto Ag No. 88n Rider-powered KPC.  It was a perfect ending for Netto who starting the program by setting the standard for the 25-car field in ARP qualifying with a new track record.  He also claimed the Beacon Wealth Strategies dash to earn the pole for the feature.

Justin and I had been racing pretty well. I was kind of looking left and saw that he was going where I wasnt. I was trying to look left and straight at the same time, Netto said. You dont know whos spinning out or who was where in front of you. Honestly the yellows came at the right time for me. It was going to get really good with Justin and I in traffic. I just had a really good race car (also).

Saturdays event honored Stockton-native Van Conett, an eight-time NARC champion and 1999 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee. The 90-year old Van Conett was in attendance for the races.

Fremont, Californias Shane Golobic battled with Sean Becker in the closing laps and finished second aboard the NOS Energy Drink-sponsored Matt Wood Racing No. 17w Rider-powered KPC. Disappointed with his finish after a mistake on his part earlier, Golobic was grateful for the result and for his crew.

I think I lost our race earlier, Golobic said regarding a pass he made around Sanders for second, but losing back when he made a mistake. Im really proud of our team. Were just a bunch of guys having a lot of fun together and the NOS Energy Drink guys work really, really hard and Matt Wood is helping us get up and down the road.

After starting seventh, Becker settled for third aboard the Bjork Construction Company-sponsored No. 7b Shaver-powered Maxim. Coming from the 15th starting position, Kaleb Montgomery charged to finish fourth aboard the Luxon Real Estate-sponsored Montgomery Racing No. 3 Speedway-powered Maxim. Andy Forsberg finished fifth in the Pacific Highway Rentals-sponsored No. 92 Don Ott-powered Maxim.
