Bronze medallist in the individual events, Dorota Nowacka was a member of the Polish team alongside Krystina Lysiak that secured silver, the duo experiencing a 2-0 defeat at the final hurdle when facing the in-form Russians.

Likewise, Wong Ting Ting and Ng Mui Wui, respective silver and bronze medallists in the individual events added to their collection; alongside Wong Pui Kei, they reached the team semi-final round, where in a similar vein to the Polish outfit, experienced a 2-0 defeat.

Earlier at the quarter-final stage Elena Prokofeva, Anzhelika Kosacheva and Maria Galkina had recorded a 2-1 success against the Hong Kong pairing of Ng Mui Wui and Li Hui Ting. Equally imposing Dorota Nowacka and Krystina Lysiak had secured a 2-0 success in opposition to Korea Republic’s Seo Yanghee and Han Gyuri, prior to posting a 2-1 win against the Japanese outfit comprising Kanami Furukawa, Maki Ito and Sayuri Mio to reach the final.

Similarly, in the men’s team event, bronze medallist in the individual events, Takeshi Takamori partnered Japanese colleagues Koya Kato and Toshiya Takahashi to gold. At the final hurdle a 2-1 margin of victory was recorded against the Samuel Von Einem, gold medal winner in the men’s singles event and Australia colleague Rory Carroll.

An impressive performance by the Japanese trio to seal the title, in the later rounds it was very much the same scenario. A 2-0 win was recorded against Russia’s Alexey Kudryavtsov and Alexandr Efremov, prior to a place being booked in the final courtesy of a 2-1 in opposition to Hungary’s men’s singles silver medallist, Peter Palos who allied with Hong Kong’s Fan Ka Ho and Yuen King Shing.

Meanwhile, in the opposite half of the draw Samuel von Einem and Rory Carroll recorded a 2-0 quarter-final success against Korea Republic’s Kim Changgi, Choi Jaehyeon and Wan Wai Lok, before emerging successful by the same margin when facing the French trio formed by Lucas Creange, Antoine Zhao and Timothe Ivaldi.

Notably in the men’s singles events, Lucas Creange had also been a bronze medallist; the ever player who had reserved a place on the podium in the individual events did likewise in the team competitions.
