LUSAIL, Qatar – Chaz Davies ended the opening day of World Superbike action from Qatar’s Losail Int’l Circuit on top of the speed charts on Thursday.
Davies led the way during the second practice, which was held under the lights at the Qatar circuit. Davies paced the second session and the day overall with a 1:57.449 lap time on his Ducati Panigale V4 R.
World Superbike champion Jonathan Rea, who paced the first practice aboard his Kawasaki, was second fastest with his 1:57.722 lap time.
Alvaro Bautista was third fastest on the second Ducati, followed by Toprak Razgatlioglu for Turkish Puccetti Racing. Michael van der Mark was fifth fastest aboard one of the factory Yamaha entries.
Tom Sykes was sixth fastest for BMW, followed by Yamaha rider Alex Lowes, Markus Reiterberger on the second BMW, Sandro Cortese of SRT Yamaha and Loris Baz of Ten Kate Racing.
Baz was the only rider in the top-10 who didn’t set his fastest time during the second practice session.
