ENSENADA, Mexico — Confidence and respect are key ingredients in the success of someone in any field.

SCORE Overall and SCORE Trophy Truck point leader Andy McMillin exudes both traits as he prepares for November’s BFGoodrich Tires 52nd SCORE Baja 1,000.

Following his victories in the 33rd SCORE San Felipe 250 and the 51st SCORE Baja 500 along with his second place finish in a new race truck at the inaugural Lucerna SCORE Baja 400, the San Diego veteran champion desert racer continues to lead the SCORE Overall and the SCORE Trophy Truck season point standings after three events in the four-race SCORE World Desert Championship.

“It’s been a great year for our team so far,” said McMillin, who has five overall victories in the Baja 1,000. “I wish we could be going into the SCORE Baja 1,000 with three wins in a row, but we came up a little bit short at the SCORE Baja 400 in September. We have a lot of confidence going into the biggest race of the year, the SCORE Baja 1000, and that’s always a key ingredient to success going into this race.”

McMillin finished second behind Ryan Arciero in the SCORE Baja 400 in a field of 189 starters, including 36 in the featured SCORE Trophy Truck division for high-tech, 950-horsepower unlimited custom trucks. McMillin, who has 11 SCORE Trophy Truck race wins, drives the No. 31 McMillin Racing Mason Motorsports-built all-wheel drive Chevy Silverado and has scored 330 points thanks to his twin wins and one second place.

He’ll look to add to that even more with a sixth overall victory in the Baja 1,000, with the event taking place Nov. 19-24. The race will start and finish in the heart of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.

“The course looks fantastic,” McMillin went on to say. “It is everything we expect in a SCORE Baja 1,000. It’s going to be a great, great race. The entire course is inspirational. This is game seven of the World Series or the Super Bowl. Everyone wants to win this race and we are going to give it everything we’ve got to win another SCORE Baja 1,000.”
