Cricket South Africa (CSA) has suspended interim director of cricket Corrie van Zyl, COO Naasei Appiah and commercial manager Clive Eksteen, ESPNcricinfo has learned. Several sources close to the organisation independently confirmed the suspensions but none of them were able to provide reasons for the decision.
The suspensions come ten days before the start of the second season of the Mzansi Super League (MSL), a project all three worked on, with CSA still in a state of flux over the management of the national men's team.
Following the post-World Cup decision to restructure the coaching positions, van Zyl was serving in an interim capacity as director of cricket and last week confirmed his intention to apply for the role permanently. Appiah is believed to have fallen out with CSA CEO Thabang Moroe, which may have led to his removal. Eksteen had been suspended in March 2018 for his role in the Sonny Bill Williams mask saga during Australia's tour to South Africa. However, he has been back at work since May that year.
Cricket South Africa is expected to make an official statement on the suspension on Wednesday morning.
