Organised in partnership with the Anita White Foundation (AWF) and Females Achieving Brilliance (FAB) alongside the University of Chichester, the occasion is very much in line the aims of the International Table Tennis Federation.
The goal is to create and promote significant opportunities that will make a positive difference by enhancing tomorrow’s female athletes, female coaches, female leaders and so on.
Itinerary
Hosted since 2014, the week focuses on combining the essential elements for self-critical learning and development; the unique learning environment includes high profile guest speakers, workshops, personal development planning, national and international support groups, as well as physical activities.
The aim for WSLA 2020 is to bring together 36 outstanding women leaders from around the world and support them to fulfil their leadership potential and enhance their understanding of the global women and sport movement.
Opportunities
Therefore, ITTF offers fully funded opportunities for two women, who aspire to significantly contribute to women and girls sport in their organisations and beyond. In addition, the International Paralympic Committee Women In Sport Committee (WISC) offers a similarly funded scholarship to one woman within the Paralympic movement.
Selection of two successful candidates from within the Olympic Movement (able-bodied table tennis) and one successful candidate from the Paralympic Movement (table tennis for athletes with disabilities) will be run via an online application process: Application Form.
Additional tasks
Besides the residential week, the successful applicants will be required to fulfill certain tasks in the first half of 2020. After completion of the WSLA, participants are encouraged to continue working towards their goal and to remain in contact with their fellow participants to maximise the outcome.
More information on the timeline and what to expect can be found in the Summary.
Crucial dates
Deadline for the places offered by ITTF and WISC; the online application has been extended to Thursday 5th December 2019. Three selected candidates, who will later enter the final nomination process (run by WSLA) will be announced shortly after.
For those selected, the online application process deadline for WSLA application concludes on Friday 13th December. Thus the chosen applicants will be asked to take prompt action to submit applications and relevant documents by this date.
Making an impact
We believe this is an outstanding opportunity for all women around the world to become more empowered, gain knowledge, create a significant network, which combined will give them even more courage to step up and take the lead.
Hence they can make an impact and empowering other women aspiring to achieve similar goals in their careers!
