Carteret County Speedway Reveals Partial Schedule

PELETIER, N.C. – A handful of dates have been announced by Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway prior to the upcoming release of the schedule in mid-January.

After being rained out last year, the Carolina Mini-Stock Challenge 4-Cylinder Nationals were rescheduled with the date set for March 21.  The 4-Cylinder Nationals is a 100-lap, $2,000-to-win Mini-Stock feature that had over 40 drivers pre-register to compete prior to the postponement in November.

The fifth annual Memorial Classic, a race which has become a staple on the Carteret County Speedway schedule, has been set for May 24.  As has been the case since the event’s inception in 2016, the race will feature the Southern Ground Pounders Vintage Racing Club – one of two dates for the series.

The CARS Solid Rock Carriers Tour will return for the third consecutive year on July 11. In the past two seasons, the CARS Tour has produced some intense racing at Carteret County Speedway, and the Crystal Coast 125 has been one of the most consequential races on the circuit.  Two-time and defending CARS Tour champion Bobby McCarty won the race in 2018, while JR Motorsports driver Josh Berry won the race in 2019.

Last season was the first time a race was not held on Labor Day Weekend after the event was rained out on Sunday and could not be held on Monday as emergency preparations were being made county-wide for the arrival of Hurricane Dorian.  However, in 2020, the traditional Labor Day date will return, with the Bobby Watson Memorial Celebration being moved to Labor Day Weekend to coincide with the opening of the track on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015.

The Bobby Watson Memorial Celebration will be held on Sept. 6 and will serve as the fifth anniversary of the first race ever held at the Carteret County Speedway asphalt oval complex.  In 2019, the Bobby Watson Memorial Celebration was held on Sept. 21 and boasted one of the largest car counts of the regular season.
