SAN FRANCISCO -- Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray will be out for the "foreseeable future" after injuring his left ankle in Wednesday night's victory over the Charlotte Hornets.

Coach Mike Malone made the announcement before Thursday's game against the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco, adding that Murray would remain in Denver along with guard Gary Harris (right adductor strain) and forward Paul Millsap (left knee contusion).

Malone said X-rays on Murray's ankle came back negative.

"He'll be out for the foreseeable future, obviously," Malone said. "We kept some of those guys home instead of having them travel. ... Just trying to allow them more rehab time, try to get them back as quickly as possible. So right now, no real update, other than we don't expect him back for a little bit."

Murray is averaging 17.6 points and 4.6 assists per game this season. The Athletic earlier reported news of Murray being out "multiple games."

The Nuggets come into Thursday night's game against the Warriors with a 28-12 record, good for second place in the Western Conference behind the Los Angeles Lakers.

Denver returns home Sunday night against the Indiana Pacers.
