Solskjaer: United hierarchy support me

MANCHESTER -- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is convinced Manchester United will give him the time to implement his long-term plan to rebuild the club.

Solskjaer is coming under increasing pressure after a run of two wins from seven games including a 2-0 defeat to Burnley at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

United travel to League One Tranmere in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday and ahead of the game, Solskjaer says he retains the faith of the hierarchy.

"We can't react to all the noise outside," Solskjaer told a news conference on Friday.

"There'll be criticism, you've got to take it. You've got to be stronger mentally. I am, the club is, the staff are very strong mentally and we're sticking to what we believe in and I've got full faith."

Solskjaer is still hoping to get at least one signing "over the line" before the transfer deadline to bolster a squad that has been left threadbare by injuries to Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.

But the United boss dismissed the suggestion he needs to make wholesale changes and urged the club to follow the example of Liverpool, who have given Jurgen Klopp more than four years to build a squad capable of challenging for the Champions League and Premier League title.

"We do have a way of doing things," Solskjaer said.

"You can see other teams have done well -- Jurgen spent four years building his team and they're doing well now.

"It's not going to be a quick fix -- not eight or 10 players in the transfer window -- we've had one proper transfer window and we are trying to do something now."
