Over the weekend, 42-year-old David Ayres, a former Zamboni driver, was pressed into service as an emergency goalie in an NHL game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Carolina Hurricanes – and helped win the game for his team. Joining TODAY live, he jokes, “I was confident until I hit the ice, and then I was terrified.” He also talks about receiving a kidney transplant from his mom, who calls into TODAY live to congratulate him.
