ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. – Crate Racin’ USA officials have announced the dates of the weekly racing series season amid COVID-19 social distancing restrictions through April 30.

Pending any further Government restrictions past that date, the weekly racing series season will be a 24-week season beginning on Monday, May 18 and running through Sunday, Nov. 1.

With the Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series losing three weeks from the season, drivers will use their best 12 weekly point earnings as their National point total. During the customary 27-week season, a driver’s best 14 weekly point earnings were used as their National point total.

“We are hoping the Social Distancing restrictions will be lifted by the end of the month, and we all can get back to business as usual,” Crate Racin’ USA Director Adam Stewart said. “We are giving everyone a couple of weeks to get back into the swing of things after May 1 before we start counting points.”

Stewart said the May 18 starting date for the start of the Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series season is based on current available information, and it is subject to change based on Federal, State, and Local Governments making additional adjustments.

“I think at this point in time, there are more questions than answers regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic,” Stewart said. “We have several different states to look at, and some states are being bit harder with the coronavirus than others. We are just trying to be proactive in adjusting our weekly racing series season, but at the same time, we will continue to be flexible to adjusting things in the future in the spirit of fairness to our weekly racing series tracks and competitors.”

The Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series gives weekly racers at weekly tracks competing in the 604 Late Model, Street Stock, 602 Late Model Sportsman, and Modified Sportsman Divisions an opportunity to compete for both a track point fund and a national point fund.
