After Late Bumps, Majeski Races To Replacements Win

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Ty Majeski wheeled his No. 45 street stock to victory Tuesday night in the LeafFilter Gutter Protection Replacements iRacing Series at the classic Myrtle Beach Speedway.

The win came after Majeski not only survived a bump and run from challenger Jordan Erickson, but returned the favor back to the Team Penske graphic designer turned sim-racer before they reached the checkered flag.

Majeski led for 126 laps after it was all said and done in a race extended by two green-white-checkered attempts.

The first overtime came courtesy of a caution flag with only three laps remaining, when a heated battle for fifth position between Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series driver Ben Rhodes and Joe Gibbs Racing communications representative Tyler Overstreet escalated into contact off turn four.

That incident collected Replacements regular Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the process, who had already been beaten to shreds by several incidents.

The second attempt was a direct result of the first attempt’s restart, when NHRA Funny Car driver Ron Capps made contact and spun on the frontstretch from a three-wide attempt courtesy of NASCAR Xfinity Series rookie Harrison Burton.

The battle at Myrtle Beach was Majeski’s first LeafFilter Gutter Protection Replacements iRacing Series victory, as well as the first race for the series using the street stock car on the iRacing service.

NASCAR on NBC personality Parker Kligerman once again found a way to be the hungriest position grabber of the week, powering his familiar No. 77 Valvoline entry to a third-place finish after a 35th place qualifying effort.

Garrett Smithley and Drew Herring completed the top five.

Notable newcomers to the LeafFilter Gutter Protection Replacements iRacing Series this week included NASCAR Cup Series stars Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch, as well as 2000 NASCAR Cup Series champion Bobby Labonte.

They finished 24th, 13th, and 19th respectively.

The week also saw Chris Rice, the president of NASCAR team Kaulig Racing – which is owned by LeafFilter Founder Matt Kaulig – join the party. Rice finished 28th.

Tuesday, April 21 will see the “Replacements” back in action with the Cup Series car at Talladega Superspeedway. That broadcast will air live on the iRacing eSports Network.

Tuesday night’s event was broadcast by iRacing in conjunction with Podium eSports, and a full replay of the broadcast can be found by clicking here.
