Los Angeles Rams center Brian Allen told Fox Sports that he tested positive for the coronavirus last month and is now symptom-free.
Allen is the first active NFL player to say publicly that he has tested positive for the virus.
Allen, 24, told Fox Sports that he has lost all sense of smell and taste since first being diagnosed with COVID-19 three weeks ago, but other symptoms such as stiffness and headaches have gone away and he expects to receive what he termed an "all clear" this week.
Allen, a fourth-round pick of the Rams in 2018, has appeared in 22 games in his two seasons, including nine starts.
No active NFL players had previously said they tested positive, though New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton and one unidentified member of the Los Angeles Chargers organization have tested positive, while two others on the Chargers have shown symptoms.
