ACT Forced To Postpone Oxford Opener

WATERBURY, Vt. – American-Canadian Tour officials have announced the postponement of the ACT Oxford 150 that was scheduled for Sunday, April 26 at Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway.

No make-up date has been set at this time.

The Oxford 150 had been slated to open the ACT and Pro All Star Series North seasons. However, a stay-at-home order remains in effect for the state of Maine through at least April 30 due to the COVID-19 outbreak, forcing the event’s delay.

As with the also-postponed Community Bank N.A. 150 at Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl, ACT officials will wait to reschedule the Oxford event until a clearer picture has emerged about when the season can begin in earnest. In the meantime, ACT will continue to take guidance on the situation from various state officials and health experts.

“We understand the disappointment from our teams and fans about not being able to race yet,” ACT managing partner Cris Michaud said. “We want to race, too — but not at the expense of public health and safety. We also don’t want to get into a position where we’re postponing the same events three or four times and causing even more frustration. When the time comes, we’ll rearrange the schedule all at once in a way that makes sense for everyone.”
