Posse Unleashed Stopped By PA Governor’s Office

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Selinsgrove Speedway officials have been forced to cancel Saturday’s planned Posse Unleashed 410 sprint car program at the half-mile Snyder County dirt oval.

After receiving approval from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and local officials within the last seven days to stage a non-social, non-spectator sprint car racing event on May 9 at Selinsgrove Speedway, the DCED was directed by the governor’s office to reverse course late on Wednesday.

At that time, the DCED called speedway officials with an order to shut down the event.

State Representatives David Rowe and Barb Gleim worked in favor of the speedway, along with track officials, throughout Thursday and into Friday to save the event, to no avail.

By noon on Friday, given the governor’s office lack of response to the legislators’ requests on behalf of the oval, the speedway had to postpone the event in an effort to act as responsibly as possible for all teams that were making plans to attend the race, as well as for fans who were making purchases to view the event online.

Still working in conjunction with state officials, Selinsgrove Speedway is soldiering on and plans to present the same program of Modern Heritage 410 sprint cars next Saturday, May 16 at 7 p.m., again to be carried live via pay-per-view.

All drivers and teams who were already entered for the May 9 race are automatically entered for May 16.

In the event any entered teams cannot attend the May 16 race, all monies will be refunded.

Teams that cannot attend on May 16 should email [email protected] with refund requests. The race will carry a rain date of May 17.
