East Coast Mini Stock Tour Cancels Its Season

DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia – The management of the East Coast Mini Stock Tour has made the difficult decision to cancel the season of racing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Several factors went into the decision, including the uncertainty of when race tracks would be able to open within the Maritime Provinces, combined with the current closures around borders between those Provinces.

With drivers, fans, officials and host venues scattered around the region, the decision was made on Wednesday to officially pull the plug on the season.

The 2020 season was set to be one of the most ambitious in the four year history of the Tour. Among the 12-race schedule included inaugural stops for the Series at Oyster Bed Speedway in Prince Edward Island and their first road course race outside of Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia at Atlantic Motorsports Park.

The series also had scheduled stops at Scotia Speedworld, Lake Doucette Motor Speedway, Sydney Speedway, Riverside Int’l Speedway, Petty Int’l Raceway and Speedway 660 planned for 2020.

The decision was to officially cancel the season after management of the series reached out to host tracks and marketing partners to discuss the upcoming year.

“This was a tough decision to make,” said Drew MacEachern of the East Coast Mini Stock Tour. “We were looking forward to our biggest season to date, but with the unique circumstances of a touring series and the uncertainty around travel and social gatherings, we thought it would be the best to bow out now and concentrate on 2021.

“Thank you to everyone for their continued support of our series and stay safe.”
