BRITT, Iowa – Ryan Ruter begins his promotional career this season at the same track he started racing.

Ruter takes charge at home track Hancock County Speedway in Britt, where IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods will run on Friday nights beginning May 22.

“I’ve always wanted to promote and the opportunity came up this year,” said the long-time IMCA Modified driver and owner of Side Biter Chassis. “I know what the fans want. I know what the drivers want. We’ll take the financial pieces of the puzzle, put everything together and have a pretty good show.”

The four-tenths-mile clay oval has been reshaped with 17-18 degree banking at the top. Concession stands were remodeled and Ruter said fans will be able to enjoy good food and adult beverages during the races without having to spend a lot of money.

“We’re doing a lot of little stuff and working with the fair board to make it happen. We want to bring in new fans without them having to break the bank to watch the races,” he said. “While we will have paid admission for our specials, grandstand admission for weekly events will be freewill.”

The MaxYield Seed SportMod Nationals kick off that slate on June 16. Stock Cars are in the special event spotlight on July 31.

Specials for the IMCA Modifieds include the Speed Shift TV Dirt Knights Tour on July 28, the Night of 1,000 Stars on Aug. 13 and the Night of 10,000 Stars on Aug. 14.

“We have a very good combination of weekly and special events on the schedule,” said Ruter, who made his Britt debut in a ‘B’ modified in 1999. “I’m looking forward to getting the season started.
