Five in a row for China! (Moscow 2010)

China has done it again! Another men’s team title for the Asian giants, coming away as 3-1 victors over Germany. Zhang Jike put China ahead for the first time in the final with his convincing display against Christian Suss only for Ma Lin to best Timo Boll, sealing a fifth consecutive men’s team gold and a 17th overall for China!

Tight start (Moscow 2010)

Spectators remain on the edge of their seats two fixtures into the men’s team final with Germany and China locked at 1-1 on the scoreboard after a tight start here.

There were early celebrations for the European outfit as Timo Boll contributed a fantastic five-game win over Ma Long in the match opener, but it doesn’t take long for China to level the scores with Ma Lin proving too strong for Dimitrij Ovtcharov. Nothing between the two sides so far – which team will capture gold in Moscow?

One down, one to go (Moscow 2010)

Now that we’ve had some time to calm down following that sensational women’s team affair it is now time to turn our attention to the final match of the 2010 World Team Championships as Germany takes on China for the men’s team crown.

Historic day as Singapore crowned champions!!! (Moscow 2010)

Incredible scenes here as Feng Tianwei topples Liu Shiwen 3-2 to confirm Singapore as women’s team champion of the world for the first time in the history of the World Team Championships! Runners-up to China two years ago in Guangzhou, it’s a case of sweet, sweet revenge for Singapore while China suffers its first defeat in the category this side of the millennium.

China up against the ropes! (Moscow 2010)

Who saw this one coming!? 17-times champion China is on the cusp of a shock defeat and could well be forced to settle for silver for the first time since 1991 with opponent Singapore holding an incredible 2-1 lead here.

Feng Tianwei and Wang Yuegu both emerge successful in the opening two fixtures, stunning Ding Ning 3-2 and Liu Shiwen 3-1 respectively. Looking for a way back into the match, stalwart Guo Yan’s win against Sun Beibei is welcomed greatly by China but it is still advantage Singapore. Can China pull this one back?

First gold medal contest of the day (Moscow 2010)

Excitement continues to build at the Olympic Indoor Arena here in Moscow with the women’s team final set to get underway shortly. It’s China vs Singapore – which side will leave the Russian capital with gold?
