Gold for China’s Fan Zhendong and Xu Xin (Düsseldorf 2017)

Fan Zhendong and Xu Xin have been crowned men’s doubles World champions in Düsseldorf following another exemplary performance from the Chinese pair in the final.

Seeded two positions below their opponents but Fan and Xu looked the more composed, beating Japanese top seeds Masataka Morizono and Yuya Oshima 4-1 to lift the trophy (11-9, 16-14, 11-9, 6-11, 13-11). Congratulations to the 2017 men’s doubles champions of the world!

Ma Long and Timo Boll in six-game epic (Düsseldorf 2017)

Two of the sport’s biggest stars, Ma Long and Timo Boll have just played out a thrilling tie packed with plenty of excitement for the crowd.

A tight affair which saw both players locked at 2-2 by the close of game four, the match could have swung either way but reigning World champion Ma Long took his game up another level and couldn’t be stopped. It’s finished 4-2 to the Chinese star here (11-5, 8-11, 11-4, 5-11, 11-4, 11-9).

Lee Sangsu secures top four ticket (Düsseldorf 2017)

Korea Republic’s Lee Sangsu has been simply outstanding here in Düsseldorf and the no.17 seeded entry continues to defy the odds, securing his passage to the men’s singles semi-finals.

Meeting Hong Kong China’s penhold star Wong Chun Ting, Lee needed just the five games to prevail over the no.7 seed (11-7, 10-12, 11-8, 11-7, 11-5). The result means Korea will receive it’s first bronze medal in the category since Ryu Seungmin in 2007!
