TALLADEGA, Ala. – Mother Nature did not want NASCAR to race at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday afternoon.
Multiple thunderstorms that saturated the track, which does not have lights, forced NASCAR officials to postpone Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series GEICO 500 at the 2.66-mile superspeedway.
The race, originally scheduled to start at 3 p.m. EST Sunday, will now be held Monday. The race will air live on FOX, with the broadcast scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. EST. Martin Truex Jr. is scheduled to start the race from the pole.
Talladega Superspeedway is scheduled to welcome as many as 5,000 race fans for the event. Parking lots will open at 11 a.m. CST, with gates opening at Noon CST.
