CONCORD, N.C. – Aric Almirola has been selected to start from the pole during Saturday’s NASCAR Cup Series Pocono Organics 325 at Pocono Raceway.
Almirola, driver of the No. 10 Ford for Stewart-Haas Racing was selected to start from the pole via a random draw. He’ll be joined on the front row for Saturday’s race by Talladega race winner Ryan Blaney in the No. 12 Team Penske Ford.
Like previous events featuring no qualifying, positions 1-12 were determined via random draw for charter teams in those positions in owner points. Positions 13-24 and 25-36 were determined the same way, with positions 37-40 filled by open, no-charter teams based on their positions in owner points.
The top-20 finishers from Saturday’s Cup Series race will be inverted for Sunday’s Pocono 325, with the 20th-place finisher starting in Saturday’s race starting on the pole for Sunday’s race.
Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin will start third, followed by Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, Joey Logano, Kurt Busch, Brad Keselowski, Kevin Harvick and Alex Bowman.
