NASCAR Modifieds Heading Back To White Mountain

NORTH WOODSTOCK, N.H. — White Mountain Motorsports Park and NASCAR officials announced Thursday that an agreement has been reached for NASCAR’s longest-running series to make a return visit to the quarter-mile bullring.

The White Mountain Showdown 200, scheduled for Aug. 1, will be the second trip of the summer to North Woodstock, N.H., for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. The announcement comes just four days after the series made its White Mountain debut with Justin Bonsignore holding off Matt Hirschman and Doug Coby for the win in a green-white-checkered overtime finish.

“The last few weeks have been a whirlwind in the best way,” White Mountain Motorsports Park managing partner Cris Michaud said. “In less than a month, we went from hoping that maybe the NASCAR Modifieds would come in 2021 to having two events in 2020. If the return visit is as good as the first one, the fans are in for a real treat.

“The Independence Day 200 was everything we hoped it would be,” Michaud continued. “It received almost universal praise from the drivers, NASCAR officials, and most importantly the fans. Right in Victory Lane, drivers were talking about how they wanted to come back. When everybody involved wants something to happen, it’s pretty easy to get a deal done.”

As part of the added NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event, the New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 that was originally scheduled for Aug. 1 has been postponed. A new Governor’s Cup date will be announced soon.

The Foley Oil & Propane Late Models remain on the card for the Aug. 1 event with a regular 50-lap feature. The Wells River Chevrolet Flying Tigers and 7-Eleven Dwarf Cars will also be in action with point-counting events.

Officials have removed the Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Trucks from the schedule due to time constraints. However, they hope to add a replacement date for the youth division in the near future.

Admission for the White Mountain Showdown 200 will be $30 for adults and $5 for kids ages 6-12. Attendance will once again be limited to 50 percent of capacity per New Hampshire state guidelines. White Mountain is working on an online ticketing system for the event and aims to go live this coming Monday, July 13.
